My Current research has started to investigate what pleasure is. With a particular focus and investigation into the psychoanalytical cannibalistic metaphor of consuming and being consumed. Devouring and being devoured. With a reference to rituals; not just everyday rituals such as eating and bathing but also the Christian rituals of the Communion/Eucharist. Marina Warner describes this process of consuming the sacrament of the Eucharist as a fundamental human desire to incorporate the object of passion.
My intention is to produce objects as the embodiment of intimate relationships and examining these every day possessions we use, I have a particular interest on our implements of eating and how I feel they come to embody personal and collective family memories as well as of a place and its history.
